Chiropractic Adjustment
There are many ways to adjust the spine. At Horizon Chiropractic we practice Diversified technique, Activator Methods, and drop table technique. A Chiropractic adjustment is the technique of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixed, locked up, or not moving properly. The Chiropractic Adjustment adds motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The purposes of this safe and natural procedure are improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.
Superficial Heat
Moist hot packs are used to raise the temperature of muscles directly below the skin. This is done to increase blood flow to the area and speed up the healing process.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a term for the application of ice, cold towels, or ice message to reduce the temperature of muscles directly below the skin. This decreases the blood flow to the area, decreases inflammation, and decreases pain in the area.
Interferential Electro-therapy
Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the vicinity of the injury. Where these impulses intersect beneath the surface of the skin, low frequency stimulation is created. The prompts the body to secret endorphins, enkephlins, and other natural painkillers in the body to help relieve pain.
Electro-muscle stimulation
Small amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissues for the purpose of reducing swelling and muscle spasm. This therapy helps strengthen muscles and reduce painful symptoms.
Ultrasound
Sound vibrations, as fast as a million times per second, penetrate the tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response. These vibrations and heat help to breakdown and disperse muscle spasms, inflammation from overuse injuries and sprain/strain injuries.
Trigger point therapy
A trigger point is an area of uncontrolled muscle tightness causing tenderness and interference with normal muscle function. This restricts normal range of motion, weakens the muscle, and may refer pain to other areas of the body.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Muscle strengthening exercises are utilized to improve range of motion, strengthen damaged muscles and support chiropractic care.
Acupuncture
Small needles are inserted into various parts of the body to stimulate the flow of energy (referred to as qi) in the body. By treating points along the body relating to a specific organ balance is restored and health is improved.
